Program Description:

This degree is for teachers holding a clear and renewable (T4) license in  middle grades reading teachers. Completion of this degree exceeds new PSC requirements for an upgrade (T5). Candidates for the traditional M. Ed. in Middle Grades - Reading take a combination of education and reading courses. Candidates may also take elective courses in an endorsement field and add this endorsement to their license. Within the traditional model, graduate candidates take half reading coursework and half professional education courses (36 hours).  Within the value-added (endorsement) model, graduate candidates take five reading courses, four education courses, and embedded endorsement coursework (36 – 38 hours).  Available endorsements include reading, gifted, ESOL, teacher leader, instructional technology, and an assessment certificate. Candidates are required to meet with their advisors during the first semester of study to plan their programs.
